    Coming to Amber
Azrain -a creepy relative of Murlas’, on his mother’s side- happens to come across Boadice in shadow. Being the sadistic creep that he was, he tortures her a bit for fun. He was wearing Murlas’ body at the time, he had switched with Murlas without the latter’s consent because he needed a disguise. Unfortunately for him, this also set the Amber Family looking for him. Gerard was the first to find him and take him, along with the bleeding Boadice, back to Amber. There, Boadice discovers she is related to these weird Amberites. (9) In Amber, Boadice meets her uncles, aunts and cousins and hears that Murlas is about to stand trial. When the Family helped swap Murlas’s and Azrains body they discovered that Murlas had been responsible for the death of one of Algoniet’s retainers.

Boa gets mail; an envelope that contains a trump. It leads her to a shadow with a blue crystal tower, which contains a very angry Fiona. (10) She attends Murlas’ hearing. Murlas gets out on probation. (11) Nothing much happens in session 12. She meets Dworkin in the east tower, and he denies having taught her trump.
“Tsk tsk,” he said, looking at my trumps. “That boy will never learn.”
She attends the duel between Adrian and Algo (Algo had been hitting on Adrian’s girlfriend) and later she gets the title of Duchess of the Carth Islands. The Carth Islands are a group of islands east of Amber. Benedict, Corwin and Bleys are going on an ambassadorial mission to the Courts of Chaos. Adrian, Boadice and Rhiane come along because it is supposed to be educational. (13)

Trisha ChartinFor the first time in the Courts of Chaos
In the Courts of Chaos she meets Merlin, Mandor and Frewar Escallwyn. Frewar looks just like the young man on the trump Gran hid behind the mirror! (14) Adrian, Rhiane, Boadice, Frewar and a group of Frewar’s young friends spend a pleasant day seeking out dangerous amusements in the Courts. Then Murlas trumps Adrian to ask for help with the black unicorn and the white globe. (15) The young Amberites and their Chaosite friends join Murlas on his (short) quest to return the white globe to the reality of the Black Unicorn. Too bad they lost Murlas before they could complete the quest. Back in the Courts a couple of thugs from the Serpent Guard pick a fight with them, and later that evening the Amberites attended a party thrown by Emall Grice. At that party Trisha Chartin drops a broche. When Boadice picks it up, it asks her to meet Trisha at midnight in the Cathedral of the Serpent. (16)

Of course, Boa accepts the invitation. That night, in the cathedral, Trisha tells Boadice a couple of things about Gran. She claims he needs Boa’s father’s help, and asks if Boa can contact her father. Before Boa can ask Trisha a couple of questions herself, there was a great explosion in the cathedral. Fortunately for Boadice, a flying demon picks her op and flies away with her. It claims to be sent by her father but that is all Boa can get out of it. (17) The next day Boadice is charged with Trisha’s murder, apparently someone saw them speak with each other. (18) In court, the Chartins can’t prove Boadice killed Trisha but they declare vendetta against her. This means that the Chartins can (attempt to) kill her and she can (attempt to) kill them without legal ramifications. Bleys takes her into shadow for a gruelling six-month training camp: to survive this Boa needs to brush up on her warfare. (19) When her training is over, Bleys invites Gran to dinner. Boa and Gran take a little vacation together in shadow. (20) (In the mean time, Amber castle is under attack by the blue goat-men, but Boa misses out on that.)

     Attack of the pink golems.
When Boa returns to Amber -alone-, she is immediately summoned to help deal with the current crisis: an army of pink golems is marching on Amber. Currently they are threatening the capital city of Begma. She hears that Alexander has met Yaslin in a sort of prison shadow and makes a deal with him to go save her sister as soon as the pink golems are dealt with. (21) She makes the trump sketches that will be used to transport Alexander’s and Rinaldo’s troops to the battlefield in Begma. The pink golems are threatening to overrun the town of Shavash. They Golemappear to be made out of pink jewellers rouge because they explode when hit by a fireball. (22) When the golem army is defeated and Shavash is saved, Boadice joins the victory celebrations in Kashfa. There, she meets Yurgo Chartin. He offers her a chance to prove her innocence: if she will put her hand in the magic box he offers her, it can determine if she killed Trisha or not. Boadice politely declines because she doesn’t trust the Chartins. (23)

     In and around Amber.
Back in Amber Boadice has a little sparring match with Rhiane, and loses. (24) Reys Thurston appears uninvited in her room to ask her a couple of questions about Trisha Chartin. Reys is very rude, as is Fiona, who drops in. Fiona seems to know Reys. (25) When Boa is on her way to the Carth Islands, her dukedom, Gran trumps her. His shape-shifting disease is playing up again and he needs Boa’s help. She takes him to a shadow of hers: Domus, where she’s got a house. Boa trumps Bleys to ask his advice. (26) Bleys isn’t much help and Boa takes Gran to a shadow she knows that has good doctors: Li-tin, and from there she takes him to a variation on that shadow: Li-tin two, where people are used to weird wriggling diseases that make you sprout tentacles. Gran trumps his brother Frewar to ask for help. (27) There is nothing Boadice can do anymore, so she goes back to Amber and again she sets sail to the Carth Islands. The ship is boarded by a ghost ship manned with animated corpses, a common menace in that part of Amber’s ocean. The ship’s first mate distinguishes himself in the fight. His name is Mardoc. Boadice takes a look at her dukedom and finds it is run by a sorcerer named Sargon, who terrorises the islands with the help of his lieutenant Lucia. (28) Back in Amber, Boadice confesses her relationship with Gran to Random. Bleys offers to officially adopt Boa, which she accepts. (29)

YaslinFinally, Alexander decides he has time, and he and Boa attempt to rescue Yaslin. Alexander walks the Pattern and transports himself to where he last saw Boa’s sister: a complex of unsavoury shadows that act as a prison. Even when she walks the pattern after Alexander, Boa can’t trump Alex and Yaslin out of there, and Murlas and Adrian have to help break through the trumpbarrier. Afterwards, Boadice liberates the Carth Islands: the magician Sargon is chased off and she makes Lucia a more lucrative offer. (30) The attack of the pink Golems and the simultaneous attack on Corwin’s pattern have had their desired effect: it gave the Nexus (a major Power like the Pattern or the Logrus) a chance to establish itself in the reality. Galoran was the one behind the attack of the pink golems, and he and his son Monias have founded their own kingdom around it: Galoria. The entire Amber family is invited to the celebration ball. Of course they all go, partly out of curiosity and partly because king Monias is looking for a bride. Boadice goes to the ball too, escorted by Frewar. (31) At the ball, she has a chat with Yurgo Chartin. Random asks Boadice to do something about the problems in Hywara. (32)

     Hywara
Hywara is a Golden Circle shadow, and a rather misogynistic one too. The locals seem to have gotten it into their thick heads that they want to be independent of Amber. Boadice accepts Random’s mission, taking Mardoc with her because he has been there before. (32) (At the same time, Monias asks Alexander (who has switched allegiance and is now a Galorian) to seek out an alchemist called Parcellus, who has gone to Hywara to experiment with local ores.) (Also session 32).
Boa and Mardoc book passage on a smuggling caravan heading for Hywara, with Mardoc posing as Boa’s husband. Before they get to Hywara the caravan is raided by bandits, who take Boa and Mardoc to Hywara as slaves. (33) Soldiers, in their turn, catch the bandits. When Boadice tries to make a trumpsketch of their leader her use of Power is detected and her cover is blown. They put a collar on her that insulates her from her power and allows the one to holds the leash to control her, more or less. (34) The collar cuts Boa off from the Pattern and prevents her from using trumps and (probably) magic. She is taken to the leader of the rebels, a bloke who calls himself Wolf, and has to sit in front of his throne while he speaks with visiting warlords and tribal elders. There, in his tent, she sees Parcellus, and she also sees how Alexander negotiates with Wolf. Late at night a young boy called Evin offers to rescue her. Unfortunately Evin turns out to be a Chartin, and Boadice ends up in the Thelbane in the Courts of Chaos, wearing the collar and her slave gear. (Think Princess Leia in ‘Return of the Jedi’.) Luckily, all the Chartins do for now is humiliate her. (35) Back in Amber she makes a trumpsketch of Wolf’s camp, and uses Amber’s troops and the knowledge she gathered in Wolf’s tent to pound the Hywaran rebellion into the ground. As a reward for her efforts, Random tells her where the ring that binds Gran’s curse can be found: in the art collection of the Sawall family. Random offers Gran amnesty in Amber and a title. (36) Gran comes to Amber. (37)

Gran     Revolution and the fixed Logrus: stuck in the courts of Chaos
While burglarizing the Sawall art collection to get at the ring that binds Gran’s curse, Boa and Gran are ambushed by Trisha Chartin, who seems very much alive. Trisha tries to capture the couple, but is stopped by the intervention of both Bleys and Delwin. (38) Something weird happens and all shadow veils become hard and brittle. The Logrus has been damaged. Delwin, Bleys, Gran and Boadice meet up with Adrian, and together find their way to the Thelbane. (They take the unconscious Trisha with them.) Boa and Adrian reach the static Logrus and meet Suhuy, who seems to have gone bonkers. Both Adrian and Boadice then enter the static Logrus to see what happened to it. They are separated, and when Boadice reaches the centre she finds herself shapeshifted. In the centre of the Logrus hangs the cold, drained corpse of Merlin. (41) Her chaos form is tall and double jointed, with bat’s wings, a black metallic skin and razor blades along her bones.
Boa takes up Merlin’s body and proceeds to take him out of the Logrus when she runs into Ornach. He is a large, bearded man, covered in blood, with broken chains at his wrists and ankles. He says he has been imprisoned for a long time, and now he is back to take his revenge on the people who imprisoned him (starting with Boadice, whom he takes for a chaosite) and free his children who have been imprisoned in black and white trumps. Boa saves her life by suggesting she will be of more use to him alive than dead: if he has indeed been imprisoned as long as he says he has, he needs someone who knows who’s who and what’s what because the universe has changed a lot recently. Ornach makes her swear allegiance. When they meet Gran, he thinks Boa has dumped him for someone more powerful and they argue. (42)

In the Thelbane Boa is re-united with her cousins, aunts and uncles who were in the Courts of Chaos when the Logrus was damaged. She has to fight Trisha in public because Trisha came to and tried to escape. Boa wins. (45) She collects autographs to testify that Trisha is really alive and well and that the Chartin’s vendetta was illegal, and has Trisha thrown in prison. Meanwhile, all around the Amberites a civil war has broken out in the Courts of Chaos. The king is dead, and several powerful factions are battling it out for supremacy: inside the Thelbane with diplomacy and assassinations, outside the Thelbane with magic and armies. Boa introduces Dorian to Ornach and gets a little demon to guide her to Malketh’s trump. Malketh is one of Ornach’s daughters. (46)

OrnachBefore she goes, she makes a deal with Alexander and draws a trumpsketch for him. (47) Someone, maybe Despil, maybe someone impersonating Despil, distracts her while his cronies kidnap Gran. She trumps Frewar, who at that moment really appreciated being pulled out of a fight in which he is heavily outnumbered. Together they try to rescue Gran but they can’t find him. With Bleys’ help they do manage to save Gran and Frewar’s father: Thron Escallwyn from being murdered by his political opponents. Those opponents were trying to obliterate the house Escallwyn. (48) Then finally, she sets out to find Malketh’s trump. Frewar accompanies her. (49) After many adventures they manage to get their hands on the trump. It turns out to be the same black and white trump that so fascinated Boadice in the art collection of Sawall. (50) Dorian trumps them back to the royal palace. (51)

Fiona takes Boadice out of the palace and demands she swears loyalty to her. Fiona is by that time slightly Pattern-mad. When Boadice refuses, Fiona enters her mind and re-writes a large part to make Boadice completely devoted to her. Then, Fiona takes Boadice to the cave of the Logrus, where Dorian and two re-found sons of Ornach are busy repairing the Logrus. Fiona, still Pattern mad, attempts to sabotage the repairs by ordering Boadice to attack the repairers. Alexander defends them. Alex completely outclasses Boadice with the sword and runs her through. (52)

When Boadice comes by, the Logrus has been repaired. This means that Boa gets to suffer a light case of Logrus madness. Any who walk the Logrus are mad for a time but Boa didn’t feel it immediately because the Logrus has only now re-gained its full strength. Fortunately, Fiona’s earlier mind-editing puts a convenient lid on the cesspit, and Boa can act more or less sane. Fiona tells her to stay with Ornach and keep an eye on him. (53)

Snakes

FFor the first time in Overshadow
Ornach sends Boadice and Taureth (his eldest son) off to get Malketh out of her prison-trump. (54) The trump leads them to Overshadow: a weird realm where illusions are real and strength of mind rules. (55) There, she experiments with survival in Overshadow (not a trivial matter), finds Malketh, saves Murlas (in his Overshadow-alias of Panther) from Redbeard, and speaks with Violet. (56) She follows Panther around the Hermit’s citadel. ‘The Hermit’ was Brand’s alias in Overshadow. (57) There, in front of the door to Brand’s laboratory, Boa’s Logrus-madness peeks and she is covered in bugs and scorpions until Dorian casts as spell of fire on her. Murlas tries a hostile take-over of her mind. She doesn’t mind Dorian’s fire because it chased the bugs away but she shields herself from Murlas’ attack by curling up into a ball and mentally digging herself in. This works, but it means she doesn’t get to enter Brand’s laboratory and find what is there. (58) ‘Filigree’ coaxes Boadice out of her defensive coma, knocks her out and takes her away from the Overshadow. (59) Waking up in shadow, Boa sees that Filigree is Fiona, when in fact it’s Flora, impersonating Fiona. ‘Fiona’ gives Boadice a pendant that allows her to survive in Overshadow without being dependent on the protection of Taureth or Murlas. She orders her to just gather as much information as she can and then come and tell her. Boa returns to Amber before going back to Ornach. (60)

Sword

More troubles in Amber and in Ornach Ways
With Ornach’s permission, Boadice trumps Gran, and together they attend baby Ruby’s naming ceremony / party in Amber. When Caine is stabbed in the back by Diana, she binds Caine’s wounds. (61) She argues with Bleys and gathers information about the legal aspects of a marriage with Gran. (62) Back in the Courts of Chaos she goes back to Ornach. (63) She draws a trump of Samall for Murlas and attends Emall Grice’s masked ball in a dress made of peacock feathers. There, Yurgo Chartin tells her that Trisha is back in the bosom of her family, and she has hired Mardoc away from Boadice. (64) Boa researches the legal rights of women in the Courts and discusses their possibly impending marriage with Gran. Meanwhile, a little girl who could very well be Dara is running around in Ornach Ways. She has contacted a ghost, who could be the disembodied spirit of Bihaye, another of Ornach’s daughters. Boadice, together with the girl Dara, enters a cluster of Black Shadows to find Bihaye. (65)

Inside those black shadows (a shadow anomaly resembling Tir-na Nog’th but more dangerous) she encounters people and situations that are real or imagined, from the past or that never existed, who may or may not have anything to do with Bihaye. The girl Dara tricks Boadice, and Bihaye ends up using Boa’s body, while Boa’s spirit is forced to find shelter in a bottle. Inside that bottle, she can establish trumpcontact but not communicate through the contact. (66) Ornach and Taureth manage to turn her into a real djinni in a bottle. As a djinn, Boadice gets a crash-course in magic. (67) Someone in Ornach ways goofs up and Boadice’s bottle falls into Murlas’ hands. Boa and Murlas lie to each other, after which Murlas ‘gives’ the bottle to Gran. (68) With another ritual, Bihaye and Boadice switch places and Boa gets her body back. Although her recent efforts have won Boa her freedom (Ornach discharges her from her oath), she agrees to stay on as his secretary for a while longer. (69) When Frewar tells Boa that Gran has been seeing an awful lot of Trisha lately, Boa trumps to Gran. When Gran refuses to swear he hasn’t slept with Trisha, (“It didn’t mean anything!”), she breaks off the relationship and trumps to Amber. Before she goes, she sees Ornach and receives a letter for Malketh. Boa has to go to Overshadow and deliver it to her. (70)
